What is Curious Traveler?

Free members are entitled to:

Paid members are entitled to:

• Basic personal profile
• Member search feature
• Notification of potential matches
• Photo album
• Post plans for an upcoming trip as early as six months before traveling
• Private messaging Has option to make profile public or private
• Profile is high lighted
• Live Chat
• Personal Blog
• Free ID verification (verification valid for up to 6 months)

Curious Traveler automatically finds and matches you with potential travelers planing a similar trip to yours.  When a match is found, Curious Traveler will send you an email, so you can connect and message each other.  This feature can be enabled/disabled on your profile page.

Free members can post a trip a month prior to your departure. Paid members can post trips up to 6 months in advance.

Before being uploaded to the public, the post will be reviewed by a Curious-Traveler employee to verify the contents are appropriate.  This can take up to 48 hours.

You post was denied, because it did not meet the following criteria:

*The post contains inappropriate language/content.

*The travel date was outside of allowed posting

Trips posted by paid members are tagged as “Featured Trips”, and are listed at the top of the page.

It’s a service provided by Stripe in which a traveler’s identity is verified by uploading a valid government issued identification. The member requesting verification needs to make sure to upload a current and valid form of ID.

For Premium members this is free for the first ID verification.

For Free Members, there is a fee of $17.95 for the first ID verification.

Need to make sure to upload a current valid non-expired government issued ID.  

Should it be necessary to re-process your request because an incorrect form of Government ID was uploaded to validate your identity, there is a re-processing fee of $7.95. These fees are to cover the additional administrative costs and verification charged by Stripe.

Once an individual’s identity is verified, they will have a blue check next to their profile. This adds an extra layer of security, when deciding to invite or join others on your or their travelers.

1. Reach out and initiate contact by sending a message through the website to a compatible travel Companion.
2. Use instant messaging (Subscription Needed). Can use this feature to communicate instantly in order to get to know your potential travel companion better prior to exchanging personal info
3. If you feel uncomfortable reaching out to a fellow traveler, you can request them to verify their identity through Stripe, a third-party.
4. Once you have found the right travel companion and feel comfortable, you may want to exchange personal info ( like; phone numbers and personal emails.)
5. Always remember, When making your trip arrangements with a member, make sure to leave the traveler partner’s/group’s information with a family member, and for further security, post your plans on our website. For example, who are you traveling with? Where are you meeting up? What travel plans have you both agreed on?  And, also email this info to yourself, as an added backup.

As a paid member, you have up to 7 days to request a refund ($29.95), but if you requested an ID check, then the refund will be less the cost of ID check ($17.95).  Thus, the total refund will be for $12.00.
